Once a year, there’s a magical night called prom. Girls get all dressed up in fabulous gowns and guys make sure their prized ride is looking fine. Fast forward a few years into adulthood to another magical night called the North American International Auto Show Charity Preview.*
Known around town as “Auto Prom,” the premise is the same as it was when you were an awkward teenager, but with a much bigger “WOW” factor.
Dressing “to the nines” is still a must, but so is making sure you’re wearing the right outfit. We suggest reading fashion writer Georgea Kovanis’ recent article in the Detroit Free Press to make sure the fashion police don’t issue you a moving violation on the big night. In the piece, Karen Daskas, co-owner of the Birmingham boutique Tender, says color is often more interesting than basic black and suggests standing out in vivid hues like red, purples, a really deep teal, or forest green.
But let’s face it, the night really belongs to the cars, and they’re eager to put their best foot forward, too! Check out the 2011 Dodge Charger R/T taking to the street in Toxic Orange or Blackberry Pearl. Or cruise around in the 2011 Motor Trend Car of the Year®, the Chevy Volt — snazzy in Viridian Joule Tricoat (that’s a fancy way of saying blue/green). The “North American Truck of the Year” Ford Explorer also keeps things fresh with Red Candy and Kona Blue. And it’s no coincidence that you’ll be seeing some of these hot colors on our showroom floors and in our spring catalog.
In the meantime, you’ll find us raising the style status quo in the VIP lounge with our exclusive genuine leather Perla Collection from ROMA. And after you’ve taken a few spins around the floor, visit us on the concourse by the Joe Louis statue to test drive one of our Robotic Massage Recliners from Human Touch®. With just the push of a few buttons you can undo knots and kinks without the expense or time of visiting a masseuse. And while you’re relaxing, you can check out the newest HD 3-D TVs from Paul’s TV.
If you can’t make it downtown, then join us in Grand Rapids as we present the Auto Show Spectacular on February 2, 2011, benefitting the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. Just remember to have your date home by midnight.
* Funds raised will support vital services for children of all ages from birth to eighteen. Since 1976 the Charity Preview has raised nearly $82 million for southeastern Michigan children’s charities – over $37 million of which was raised in the last seven years alone. Source: www.naias.com
