The dusty colors of the desert can be a soothing feast for the senses, but combining shades can be intimidating. That’s why we adore the global color experts at Pantone who have assembled their 2014 Home Collection to help you effortlessly move from safe beige into a statement of color that best represents you.
If you’re inspired by a melting pot of cultures, the colors of the Tribal Threads palette will be perfect for you. Tribal Threads are “as varied as the tribal diversity they represent yet they construct a universal linkage of artistic appreciation rooted in personal expression. Color combinations may be disarmingly simple or as complex as inter-woven threads. Neutrals such as Bleached Sand and Kangaroo brown highlight an exotic Arabesque burnt orange, while Goblin Blue is flavored by Curry and Peppercorn.”
Like this collection? Art Van has the look. Take a peek at this living room we designed using the calming colors of Tribal Threads:
We like to start with a sofa and build the room from there. The Thread & Feather Brae Sofa, in Bleached Sand is perfect for this palette. It offers transitional styling that is not only easy to live with but timeless, as well. The nail-head trim and tapered legs provide traditional touches. And a touch of Old World charm shines through in the accent fabrics of the throw pillows, picking up Arabesque, Dusty Cedar and Kangaroo shades from the palette.
Take the look even further by adding the Thread & Feather Paget Chair with its base in Arabesque. One chair creates a great accent or bring in a pair to create a conversation area. Thread & Feather is one of our many customizable collections; you can get this chair in its two-fabric application or select one upholstery option for the entire piece. It’s up to you!
The faded colors of Tribal Threads look great with rustic tables. The Sherwood Rectangular Cocktail Table has a plank-style top in rich wood. Its open shelf and twin drawers offer storage for DVDs, remotes or magazines. And the twisted caged metal accents bring in another detail to give the table added flair. You can also add the matching End Table, which has the same plank-style construction. Place one next to the sofa or between a pair of accent chairs.
Top the table with the Collins Table Lamp. Its column base has an antique gold finish, and its sleek style is topped with a contemporary style drum shade – a good choice for a transitional room. The lamp picks up two colors in the Tribal Threads palette: Kangaroo and Peppercorn.
Finally, anchor the room with another color from the Tribal Threads collection. The Duncan Spa Blue Rug brings a calming effect with its plush pile and serene tone. Its color mimics the Goblin Blue in the palette and provides a nice contrast to the terra cotta Arabesque chairs.
