We’ve Got the Look: Scandal Living Room

If you’ve gotten hooked on ABC’s political thriller Scandal, you’ve no doubt been mesmerized with actress Kerry Washington’s character Olivia Pope. The drama on screen is only enhanced by the gorgeous sets.

Production designer Corey Kaplan told People magazine, “The space is based off of apartments in the El Royale in Los Angeles, designed by William Douglas Lee of the Chateau Marmont in 1927.” Because Pope is always working, “she doesn’t do much entertaining,” Kaplan says. The goal, then, was to keep her place simple. “She decorates for comfort. She isn’t that fussy.”

The designers created an overall feel for Olivia’s apartment that is “smooth and feminine” with “very simple colors” that give that “ethereal effect.” And if you like Olivia’s living room, we’ve got the look:

scandal sofa
The sofa in the Scandal living room has curved lines in a subtle peach color. The Coral Sofa from our Style Collection is a good match. In beige cotton with coral, sand and white throw pillows, its traditional flair is a classic. With the Style Collection, you can choose a custom fabric and update this piece with color that matches Olivia’s apartment. Instead of a cocktail table, we think the Coral Cocktail Ottoman makes a good option. With turned legs and tufted top, the look adds to the elegance of the room. And since it, too, is from the Style Collection, you can easily make it your own with a custom fabric choice.

scandal chair
Across from the sofa is a pair of sleek chairs with contemporary lines and a feminine fabric. Our Chloe Accent Chair is a nice option with its fresh, small-scaled geometric pattern that continues the peach theme. The legs provide the contemporary feel with a sophisticated styling.

scandal side table
Between the chairs is a round end table. Our Belgian Oak Table features a Petit Blue Stone top, which brings another texture into this sensual room. Each tabletop is one-of-a-kind, and the natural material means each one will vary in appearance.

Providing a contrasting color is the Thread & Feather Burnside Chair. With rolled arms and deep seating, the traditional style adds some weight to the room. Thread & Feather is another of our customizable brands, so you can easily select a turquoise fabric to match Olivia’s apartment if you wish.

scandal sofa table
Against the wall Olivia has an ornate console table in formed metal with a glass top. The Modern Heritage Sofa Table with its traditional styling and intricate metal design will fit perfectly in this comfortable yet eye-catching room. Top it with a lamp and urn to create a special corner.

scandal rug
The rug in the Scandal living room is an oversized Oriental design. Our Prorietry Rug is similar, inspired by the tradition of handcrafted Gabbeh style rugs. Made of synthetic and natural fibers, the durable construction combines numerous yarns to create a subtle variation in the design and color.

scandal lamp
Finally, add some ambient lighting to the room. Olivia’s apartment uses white-based ceramic and glass lamps, and our Agnes Table Lamp is a great choice. Neutral, the large-scaled table lamp makes a statement and has the right touch of casual and contemporary for this room.
