Trends: The Millennial Kitchen

When Millennials buy a home, their first priority is to design and equip the kitchen, according to the Chicago Tribune. “We hear that the kitchen is the heart of the home. So many people think that dinner is a thing of the past, but Millennials recognize that the kitchen and dinner table are where family bonds and memories are made,” said housewares expert Marsha Everton. While at the 2018 International Housewares Show in Chicago, the Chicago Tribune found three big Millennial kitchen trends. Take a look:

Try This Trend: Outdoor Artwork

A fence or an outdoor wall can be a design opportunity. Outdoor artwork can quickly dress up a blank space without worries. The pieces are printed on canvas and are waterproof, UV protected and gallery wrapped on stretcher bars so they’re safe for outdoor use. They even include mounting hardware that keeps them secure against winds.

You in? Here are four of our favorites:

Fill your yard with flowers by adding the stunning Poppies In Wind Outdoor Art in beautiful bright red, orange and purple.

Enjoy the lake lifestyle with the Nautical Equipment Outdoor Art, which features colorful buoys in vibrant shades.

Give your outdoor space a touch of nostalgia and whimsy with the Bike With Flowers canvas.

Add a sophisticated touch to your outdoor entertaining with the Evening Outdoor Wall Art.

Try This Trend: Ceramic Stool

If you want to add a pop of color or another texture to your patio, the easiest way to do so might be to add a ceramic garden stool. Super versatile, this piece can be an end table, chair or accent piece. Just pick your favorite color and style. When summer is over, the ceramic stool will beautifully blend with your indoor décor. Add it to your living room as an end table, bedroom as a nightstand or foyer as an accent table.

Here are five ceramic garden stools that be an easy update to your patio … and beyond:

Orange is a hot accent color. Why not incorporate this hue with a super fun ceramic?

This blush-toned ceramic with its curved design will soften your outdoor space with an unexpected color. It would look beautiful indoors when the temperature dips.

A pop of teal provides the tranquil feel of water in your patio, and the fish motif on this ceramic stool is an added bonus, bringing the feeling of the beach to your shore.

Bold yellow is another hot color, especially for summer. It will give your deck a sunny outlook when clouds are grey.

Choose a metallic garden stool, to provide a sense of light and glamour. It’s also the perfect piece to add pizzazz to a living room.

Chintz Is Back

Remember chintz? The floral fabrics that gave your home an English country look. It had its heyday in the ‘80s, and it’s back in vogue. In fact, designer Tory Burch opened her Paris flagship store last summer, covering the walls and windows of the VIP room in iris-print chintz.

Chintz is a glazed fabric that’s easily wiped down and dusted, which makes it practical. Patterns are often bright and colorful, and often floral. Add a chintz-covered chair to a living room or bedroom sitting area for a soft touch. Cover your dining chairs in chintz for that English country feel. Or simply pick up a few toss pillows. You’ll not only be on trend; you’ll be ready for spring.
